3 Hearts Vintage

After a two week break caring for mom's needs,  I'm back into the swing of things on both my Etsy Shop and Blog! I've been busy getting the last haul up on line and planning the next shopping trip! Its been nearly 3 weeks since Liv and I were out and about picking. Our favorite things we found on the trip were these Fire King Relish Trays made of milk glass with a gold rim. Mom had two of these and used them faithfully during the holiday season or special occasions. She told me that she got them both at a local gas station. They were given away when your punch card got to 5 gas tank fills....hahahaha. I always found that funny and Liv does too. I have one of mom's two in my cupboard, and it will be there forever until I hand it down to the next generation. I use it faithfully during the holiday season too. When I spotted these two on the shelf, Liv was right behind me and saw them almost at the same time I did. "Grandma, your dish and there are two of them"!...

Its been a long, long  two weeks. It started with  phone call on February 17 from the nursing home about my mother needing  to go to Urgent Care. It was discovered she was battling Pneumonia.  This was accomplished and she was taken back to the home after a healthy dose of antibiotic. All was well for the moment, until the next day February 18th....this trip sent her to the hospital via the ambulance. After a exhaustive search for the right antibiotic combo and trying to drain the lung with no luck she was brought back to the nursing home she has lived in for the past 2 years to be placed into comfort care on February 28th. Mom was born on June 11th, 1926 (she is 91) in Francesville, IN to George and Marie Pfledderer. She came from a proud German family of 16 siblings and she was third from the bottom. My love for all things vintage has prompted me to take on a assistant. My granddaughter, Liv, has accepted the job for the Etsy Shop. We are very excited for our new adventure together and have created a section just for her called Liv's Picks. Profits from this section will go into Liv's savings for her Jr. High/High School events, spending money and be used for college funds as well. As many of you know these things take up a chunk of money to get them ready and prepared for life. Anything that I can do for the grand's to help with the extra's. I have two grandson's (Liv's brothers) that will be joining in on the fun and their sections will be added when the time is right. The business and shop were named for the 3 of them, MY THREE HEARTS. My mother will turn 92 in June of this year and her days of cooking and baking are long gone. I realized this 4 Thanksgivings ago when she was making the Pumpkin pies and forgot to put the sugar in them. Poor gal, she was the best baker ever. She came from a family of 16 children and had 6 sisters. Grandma Pfledderer (mom's mom) came here from Germany in 1903 and taught them all everything she knew. All that are left is my Aunt Jeannette (88) and mom out of the 16. I was fortunate enough to get some of her cake pans and Jell-O molds. Can't begin to tell you how many creations I've had out of them in my nearly 60 years on this planet. All were either given to mom as gifts or purchased by her. Looking up prices on eBay I realized I have a small fortune wrapped up in these pans. I use them to bake cakes or make Jell-O creations in for my 3 Hearts now...Elivia, Eli and Ehann. I have always loved to thrift vintage glassware, it seems I've  accumulated so many things that have not seen the light of day for some time! I began the task of purging to make my life less cluttered in 2018 before all the boxes engulfed me.(Since I inherited some of my mother's things too) Which lit the flame under me once again to take up the art of thrifting. Thus, a business was born! This time I will have my granddaughter, Liv, at my side to help me. Why the name 3 Hearts Vintage? The shop is named after my grandchildren who are the loves of my life.
