Fall is in the air

With fall just around the corner, our summer is almost over, and its time for Bonfires, Football, and sweatshirts, and it's time to think about decorating for Fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving!

I found putting out all my Fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving at once and leaving it up until the Sunday after Thanksgiving works best for me....its not so hard to tear down and put up the tree.. It also alleviates the stress of having to take down and up new decor depending on the holiday. Its all there, its all a part of fall....who cares! NOT ME! The simpler the better.

I generally use a lot of brown, amber, and golds in my glassware, and use dishware with fall leaf motifs the first part of September, then by the end of the month I add in my Halloween, and Thanksgiving decor items that are specific to those two holidays. I use lots of silk fall leaves too. Here are some suggestions to start the process of  "falling" up your house.

1970's Candy dish to put all those fall colored M & M's in! My favorite, I always have lots of them in the house from September 1st to January 1st! They are a staple for this seasonal holiday season. My grands would be lost without them.

Plates that depict the fall harvest of fruits, garden vegetables like - corn, squash, and pumpkins will lend themselves to the cause.

This Homer Lauglin Golden Wheat design is perfect for the fall harvest!

How about this Taylor Smith Taylor Fall Leaf design....it works for me!

A brown sugar bowl is good to put a tea light in, use the battery operated kind....no wax to clean out. This piece below is a replicated Federal piece that was made in the 1970's to commemorate the Bi-Centennial. Federal Glass originally produced them in the early 1900's in Carnival Glass.
You can find all these images and more in my Etsy shop at 3 Hearts Vintage
So get out there and shop, thrift or what ever it takes to get the job done.
HAPPY FALL YA ALL!

Blessings to all,

Setting the Table

So you've been given the task of setting the wedding party table at the reception. What can you do to make it memorable? One of the latest trends is to use vintage China, dinnerware and glass. Not sure where this idea originated, but I love it. No doubt it was a awesome wedding planner, and who ever it was, I solute you! Depending on the bride and her tastes they are buying up every thing from miss matched china pieces to full matching sets of vintage china, stoneware, and glass. Many of these items are being found in thrift stores every where.  The brides are not forgetting to pick up serving sets as well, such as butter dishes, salt and pepper sets, gravy boats, platters, serving bowls and candle stick holders. When the party is over, the china is taken, cleaned up and presented to the bride and groom as a wedding present. Johann Haviland Bavarian China For the more laid back or rustic simplified wedding try using Corelle for the setting. Corelle Dinner Ware, Snowf...

Moms vintage Cake Pans and Jell-O Molds!

My mother will turn 92 in June of this year and her days of cooking and baking are long gone. I realized this 4 Thanksgivings ago when she was making the Pumpkin pies and forgot to put the sugar in them. Poor gal, she was the best baker ever. She came from a family of 16 children and had 6 sisters. Grandma Pfledderer (mom's mom) came here from Germany in 1903 and taught them all everything she knew. All that are left is my Aunt Jeannette (88) and mom out of the 16. I was fortunate enough to get some of her cake pans and Jell-O molds. Can't begin to tell you how many creations I've had out of them in my nearly 60 years on this planet. All were either given to mom as gifts or purchased by her. Looking up prices on eBay I realized I have a small fortune wrapped up in these pans. I use them to bake cakes or make Jell-O creations in for my 3 Hearts now...Elivia, Eli and Ehann. And the tradition carries on until its time to pass them on. The following are the ones I have (m...
